Poem based on picture of my dog with his head in a hole he dug to stay cool during this hot summer.

Hot, hazy, and humid
And me with a heavy coat.
The sun and heat make my eyelids
Heavy with sleep, so I dig.
In the shade of the fir tree
A hole that is deep and cool,
So tired am I from the digging spree,
That the desire to sleep overrules.
With my head in the hole,
The cool earth under my fur,
All I need is my food bowl.
If I were a cat, I would certainly purr.
