It’s hard sometimes, especially as a teenager, to really open yourself up to someone.. to be yourself.
On the outside I smile.
I laugh and joke around
No one notices anything
They all seem dumbfound.
Do they not realize?
Don’t they see?
All those battles,
Going on inside me?
Don’t let my outside fool you
Nothing is as it seems
You should hear my heart
It yells, it tears, and it screams.
Is it really only me?
Am I the only one?
Who feels this pain,
And is attacked by its evil minion?
On the inside I’m dying
I feel I cannot hold it
The feelings threaten to burst out
They just want to jump and shout.
So keep in mind
Next time you see
A person with a smile
Maybe they feel like me.
Don’t let the outside fool you
Plese don’t let it fool you.
Don’t look past the real me
Because I really, really want you to see.
