A secret that lies in the deep abyss.

There is a path that leads
into a deep trench that holds
a piece of eternal life where
sea creatures speak and oceans
give advice

In the darkest abyss
where self never roams
but secrets give birth to
understanding of what was
and what has become

This life, this day is a
bleak existence, but then
it was turmoil fighting against
truth for the justice of what
was right, is being found
in the darkest places where ghosts
don’t speak,but breath history

    Lauren,

Following your title and your image, oh no, I had no intention of treading, but almost did one starless midnight three years ago. Could’ve been a disaster. Ok, a recollection… Flashback. I smiled after spotting the image in your poem. I thought, hmm, that’s going Great Ocean Road, at Melb, Oz. Me and 3 others had an unforgettable few minutes angst somewhere there.

The combination of the words and the images… and the beautiful imagery that is in the words (” where … oceans/ give advice” is my favorite)… well, it leaves you breathless!

  • Connie Arnold on Jan 26, 2009

Very descriptive piece, and the pictures accentuate it perfectly! Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • qasar on Jan 26, 2009

Lauren – I just discovered the Triond site and, to my delight, your piece on, what I believe is fear vs discovery. Everyone who reads it can internalize the meaning with their own experiences – real or imagined – past or future.

    Very nice

  • James DeVere on Jan 26, 2009

Great finding a master poet who doesn’t revert to corny phrases and Wedding card sentiments. Very well done. I was actually hoping that you would write more poetry. The first piece I ever read of yours was an amazing poem that you wrote months ago.

    Excellent stuff..j

Absolutely love it – especially this verse:

There is a path that leads
into a deep trench that holds
a piece of eternal life where
    sea creatures speak and oceans
    give advice

    EXTRAORDINARY.

    Blessings.

    Sincerely,

    -Liane Schmidt.

Hmmm… History’s last breath. Fascinating. I like your free verse here for it’s poignancy and suggestions of the implacable depth of the ocean, holding a wisdom deeper and more hidden than the deepest abyss. Good idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • Paul The Kirton on Jan 27, 2009

    Absolutely stunning words!

  • Sharona on Jan 28, 2009
