I’ve learned more tolerance as I’ve grown older. Perhaps people act strangely, but lets not be too quick to judge. We do not know what they are or have been dealing with.

Could I have learned it without having had the experiences that I have had? We always hope our children will – learn without the hard knocks.

Don’t look in my closet

At the secrets I keep

All’s fine on the outside

Just don’t look too deep

I’ve closed the door on the mem’ries

Shoved them all inside

Hoping they’ve drowned

From the tears that I’ve cried

I’ve heard others complain

About this and that

And it all sounded so minor

From the places I’ve sat

There are victims with burdens

Throughout the world

And into our closets

Our memories are hurled…

Thanks for your visit, Teves. That’s the idea – scary. . .

    Take care & God bless.

My dear friend, you have gone into the depths of many things here, not just closets or minds. Put so well with your selected words, I went right along with you from beginning to end. If only we could have our children learn from out mistakes, it would be a different life for them. Thank you for sharing this with me.

I can relate to your thoughts, I too have bad things in my closets, and I always tell my son, If you want to experience a good life try not to look at the things in my closet, surely you will regret owning those things. You have my like on this one Judy.

Absolutely, brilliantly written. I was able to follow your every thought and was overwhelmed with your imagination. Great work!

  • BC Doan on Nov 5, 2009

Very well said, Judy! We have many closets, don’t we? Some we can share, but others should just keep closed..

Roberta, I know, I have wished so many times that they would just take my word for it, but it seems they want to experience the pain for themselves.
Chan, one day, perhaps, but are you really sure you want to? :-)
Christine, when I hear about somethings that others are going through in their lives it makes me shutter, and then there are those, like I said that gripe about every little thing.
    Cutedrishti, thanks so much.
Giftarist, not if only the young people would get scared & LISTEN!
Papaleng & Jane, I know you know what I mean.
    Jenny, thank you!
BC (Icy), I wish some of them would just go away, leave the victims restored and take the bad guys with them!

Thanks everyone for your support. Take care & God bless!

How true that we all have things that we don’t want others to see. I agree that we get more tolerant as we get older and hopefully don’t judge as quickly. A great read that I wholeheartedly support.

Judy, You are so right. It doesn’t do to dig too deeply. Better to look ahead and hope for better days.

  • Melody Arcamo Lagrimas on Nov 7, 2009

I love the way you expressed this truth… deep and mesmerizing.

What a great poem… very powerful message :)

  • Chris Stonecipher on Nov 11, 2009

    Judy,
Your poem has a powerful message. Wouldn’t it be scary if in the future people could read our inter most thoughts as if it where on a projector for all to see.
    Excellent work my friend.
    Blessings to you,
    Chris

It’s certainly best to keep my closet closed though it’s a little better now that I carried two big bags to Goodwill this morning.
