Let me give you a piece of good advice.

Please listen to me and understand.

Soon you will grow up to be a man.

Don’t make your country girl cry.

Don’t make your country girl cry.

Tell her no sweet lies,

and please remember to kiss her goodnight.

Listen what I’m saying to you.

For what I tell you is nothing new.

Let me tell you boy, you’re not gonna play with a toy.

A broken heart is hard to heal,

and emptiness is hard to fill.

Don’t make your country girl cry.

Don’t make your country girl cry.

Hold her close until you die.

Don’t question or ask me why.

Give her roses every now and then.

Blow her kisses with the wind.

Listen to my good advice.

Hold her close until you die.

Tell her she has beautiful eyes.

Don’t make your country girl cry.
