This is a poem explaining that sometimes in life you just don’t have a choice as to what you become…

I came across a begger
He was in my way
I couldn’t help but feel disgust
The way he was dressed
Full of dust

I tried not to notice
I tried to walk away
But oddly enough
His eyes made me stay

I felt pity for him
So I offered him a dollar
But this pity made him angry
And he began to hollar

So I live on the streets
I beg for money
Sometimes you don’t have a choice
But what do you know honey

The eyes give you away
Each and every time
You look at me like I’m nothing
Just the filth under your shoes
A big blob of slime

The players of life
Will feel the strife
I’ve lost everthing
Including my wife

Envy renders its ugly head
In all of our hearts
A shockwave of emotion
That rips lives apart

Go live your cushy life
Though you think may be free
Not a damned thing you can do
When your bound by society

Struggling in vain
For things to obtain
When your dead and gone
Will you call this sane

By causing me shame
What have you to gain
Does it make you feel better
Or do you feel the same

I don’t walk with my head down
I don’t feel the shame
I don’t need your pity
Cause I’ve only got myself to blame

And truth be told
Life just a big game
So enjoy the ride lady
I’ll do the same

It’s true sometimes even though we try our best the breaks are not there. And who can say that the one with a cushy job tried any harder than the homeless man? Not one.

I really like this real-life picture you paint. You give an honest look at how people think about those less fortunate than themselves.

This could happen to any of us, all it takes is a few wrong turns and fate does the rest. Great piece.
