This poem describes hitting rock bottom.
Down there is a smoke filled room
With no light.
A child with red eyes,
Glares at you from the corner of a dark room.Down there.
Down there is where you never want to go,
But you find yourself down there with the roaches,
From time to time.
Down there is noone to release you
From it’s hold.
Just the echoes of a life you never knew.
Frightened you try to claw yourself out
From down there.
Down there noone can hear your screams,
Or the madness that envelops you.
There are no pillows, not a bed to rest your head
Down there, there is no comfort
Down there, there is no past.
Just one unbearable moment, after the next.
You feel on edge always,
Your anxiety is at it’s tower
Down there you cannot hold yourself down
Down there you lack the power,
To take yourself away from the downcast things,
That lay down there in wait for you.
