Here is a little poem I made up. It’s a serious topic, I know.

I went to a party.

I left feeling hearty.

I had a night of drinking.

I got behind the wheel not thinking,

I hit with my car a little boy

There went all my joy.

    I drink a lot. I’m kind of glad I don’t have a car.

It is so easily done when you’ve had a drink.

    A terrible situation.

The sad thing is some people wont stop drunk driving until they have killed someone. Even sadder, some wont stop even then.

We put them in jail; they come out to drink and drive. Put them in jail again; they repeat offend. Take their license permanently; they drive without one.

We live in a society that requires transportation, and independence. The real scourge is alcoholism. If we eradicate that, we eliminate the problem. Most people who drink socially are responsible enough to take a taxi or have a DD if they are past the limit.

We need to find other solutions.
