Sonnet III.
Droplets to nourish, why do you rain so sad?
If the sun isn’t much more radiant smile,
That from beauty more beauty can ever add
Why would you then waste each drop a while?
Perhaps the gray clouds with their melancholy soaring
Have captivated you when a fragile way is run
But is it so that you have no bright lays adoring
Or have even forgotten the warm touch of sun?
Waste not a single splendor, for each is so heavenly yours
Nor have a single one soak sadly to the heavy rain
Rain instead sorrow’s gates to mere breakable doors
Whenever the blue sky is crossed by a duller cloud of pain
Those two rainings that my heart so poorly watches
One unsights sight, the other love’s name scratches.
