Eclipse and Superstitions goes hand in hand.

superstitions
snatches mind of people
while eclipse occurs.

***Most of the people, esp. in India, believe in superstitions while the eclipse occurs. They avoid taking food, bath and also washing clothes. Pregnant women are kept under heavy restrictions during this time. Though I am a non-believer of superstitions, I ignore these beliefs, rather I try to be logical. These beliefs are a part of Astrology as most of the people believe that their stars might face some trouble if they do continue their activities.

The logic behind not having food during eclipse is , that during eclipse, bacterial growth on earth shoots up … coz there is no sun to keep dem under control…….

I haven’t followed eclipses for some time, but didn’t know one was scheduled for your area. I saw a total while at Dundlod Castle, just northwest of Jaipur, in October, 1995. Watching the local before and after was half the interest, everything from drum beating to hiding. Few stayed out to watch, but went inside to watch on TV.
A man a woman nearby stayed out through the whole thing and watch with aid of a sun filter. Dangerous. I had seen another total in Bolivia several years earlier and native Imara show same fears.

If you have the opportunity, definitely don’t miss one. Among the best experiences in my life. Absolutely incredible.
