Often, the only path out of darkness is the refusal to submit to blindness, to accept light from new sources.

The Dark envelops me as the sun sinks away.

Sunsets only satisfy with promise of future days,

The whole world casts its shadow

and I can see nowhere to step.

So accustomed to the Sun’s warm embrace

warmth through my face and soul,

laced perfectly between my fingers.

Turned back on the Night.

I had my light

Why settle

for its pale reflection?

Perhaps there is comfort in darkness.

The stars,

    swallowed by the Sun,

never gone

      but lost

Found.

My eyes now have strength to see

ground beneath me.

Step on the grass kissed with Frost.

Nothing gold can stay…

I cling to hope that this a lie.

But either way, I can settle

for silver.

Whether triumph of the eyes or something more,

I see a glow.

Break of clouds or break of dawn,

Both can light my way.
