The empty vessel of egotism must sound hollow. There are those that think that they are on top of the heap, when, in fact, they should be half way down or at the bottom.
He brags about his knowledge,
Scorns those with but little;
He thinks he is beyond compare,
And oft disposed to whittle
The contents of another work
Or words he shouldn’t belittle.
He never stops to praise himself,
Reluctant to concede
To those he thinks he always must
Condemn and supersede,
Confident he’s qualified;
Always fit to lead.
He contradicts an open truth,
Even as a fact,
Well-prepared to blow his horn
On purpose to detract
From logic and sound reasoning,
With neither taste nor tact,
Until one day he blew his horn
That sounded flat and hollow,
While in his usual arrogance,
Began to quickly wallow;
He rambled so unreasonably,
Nobody could follow.
And suddenly his retinue
Of arrogance dispersed,
Fell short of their assembly,
Failed to quench their thirst
For superseding others;
The bubbles quickly burst.
His bravado and blustering
He couldn’t sustain this time,
For the value of his “dollar”
Dropped down to but a “dime.”
Now you know the purpose
Of this poetic rhyme.
