A yearning to return to Ireland and homesickness.

I looked across the water to a land many miles away,
And wished that I was anywhere,
But in this place today;
I have witnessed many a misery,
Death and sorrow and woe,
And can say to you my friend,
That any land i will go;
I was just a lad of seven seasons,
With a head full of many more,
And a head full of a thousand reasons,
To flee to that distant shore;
But as the endless years drifted past,
And I live with those memories of woe,
Oh how i long to stead fast,
And back to my home I will go.
