A poem about the large Stag that roamed Dartmoor and when publicised ,suddenly this great beast was shot. no one knows who perpretated this crime.
Misty moor with droplet tears of sadness
Wind swept grasses and rattling reeds
Trees, majestic arms raised to the sky.
Robbed today of a sacred creature
One who strode the land majestically
And ruled his herd with supernatural authority
Into legend antlers held high
Cowardly act doomed to die.
Lost forever to this world
Wandering in that blessed realm
Free from evil and ageing strife
Waiting forever in his new life.
