Seven Deadly Sins.

Envy
My Envious passion rots me to the core.

I can’t deal with the fact that I’m less and your more.

You’re still accelerating flight but from my eyes you sore.

All these earthly materials you possess that I can’t afford.

This is the part where I feel discouraged and unhappy with my life.

You have all things my flesh desires even a beautiful wife.

Father something about this just doesn’t seem rite.

I’ve served God for so long and I have yet to see light.

The worse comes to mind when I think of my brother.

I must work for love while with love he is smothered.

But wait! If I work now what comes later?

What will my brother have to eat while I enjoy the fruits of my labor?

Then again all great leaders start out as great servants.

I learn new things from father while my brother plays with the serpent.

I have a choice to be consumed by desire or follow God while my future blessings are extending.

You can’t give your soul to the world while death is always apprehending.

I must escape this physical bind and follow the spirit within me…

…and stay clear of the ponds of jealousy that contain the lures of envy.

Beautifully written. Stick to what you know is right and what makes you feel peaceful, then you know you are following God. Envy is a tricky sin to avoid. Great poetry. Cannot wait to read more.
