A court case in progress…

A good offense

produced a better defense,

he moved through the rest

of the evidence

urging the jury to use common sense,

they were capable,

as he pointed at the defense table,

showing the jury what was clear,

the guilty sat there,

the case was a complete mess,

a murdered man buried,

and the state was looking for someone to confess,

sometimes the family doesn’t show up for court,

tragedy steals their support,

and if they did,

and made an attempt,

they would regard the defendant

and the authorities with equal share of contempt.

This probably happens in real life more than what we would like to admit.
