Erotic: giving sexual pleasure

Opiate: taken for pleasure or to reduce pain;
extensive use can lead to addiction.

They find a friend who has the opiate they need,
willing to share, on each other they’ll feed.
In heights of pleasure they’ll cover their pain,
relieve life’s stress, satisfaction gain.
They’ll start with hors d’oeuvres of erotic foreplay,
stimulate an appetite for more the next day.
Intoxicating their senses with an internal narcotic,
released in their blood veins, a drug most hypnotic.
They’ll call it love to make it seem clean,
lift it higher out of the mean.
It’ll consume their minds in the middle of the day,
making them anxious to renew their play.
They’ll roll the dice when considering the cost,
betting things of importance won’t be lost.
It’s natural, of course, not an affliction,
but extensive abuse still leads to addiction.

Oh yes, extensive use does lead to addiction. I agree.

Well, that does sound about right. As an erotic stimulant though, I rather doubt it.

Wisely observed and great imagery. I think there are quite a few afflicted! I really like your choice of language in this poem.

Nice discriptive poem. Even though i’m not aware of the drug or its effects on the body, i never needed any stimulant to enhance me or my wife’s sexual pleasures, or to dull the pain. I like the poem though. Well done.

This poem has a lot of imformation to be great. Right now, to much is explained and told. If you attempt to show what you say holding on to the same emotion–i can feel a masterpiece–if you know what I mean.

simple effective simile and metaphorically seen by me as artistry
