Ambition drove many men to become false; to have one thought locked in the breast, another ready on the tongue.—Sallust

*To KJ.

That your asking me ha?
Had a sound of, a kind of
Echoing laughter
When I asked you about A part of you
I thought you are
All too willing
To share

That your asking me back
Tells me my being inquisitive
Should never be allowed,
Only to lose of what
To you
I believed

*

As with Mike Enriquez:

I won’t triple you brown
Unless you admit it
False, your Sallustian belief

*

That your asking me ha?!
Had an eventful cruel impact
After I tried to ask the second time
Efforting
Only for the benefit of the doubt

*

Excuse me po ser

You who isn’t you
It serves to confirm my
Being, my idiocy

What’s this all about? Just asking…

  • ysh.cabana on Oct 16, 2010

it’s a Paolo Manalo-esque poem about getting fooled through the internet. Some parts would be more understood if transliterated to Filipino though

    footnotes:
1 “ha?” is a shorter way of asking “what?” in Fillipino
    haha could also mean laughter
2 Mike Enriquez is a popular Filipino TV and radio anchor for a news program and an ‘investigative’ show. He is even more famous with his terse phrasing of the show’s tagline “Hindi ko kayo tatantanan” to warn answerable entities in the complaint that they will be observed with prying eyes, and that no mischief will go unnoticed.
3 “I won’t triple you brown” is a transliteration of “hindi ko kayo tatantanan”
4 “Ambition drove many men to become false; to have one thought locked in the breast, another ready on the tongue.” –Sallust, Roman author
5 ‘Efforting’ is a made up word used only by newscasters to show off that they’re doing the job they’re paid to do. A poor attempt to make the word ‘effort’ into a verb.
6 “Excuse me po” is another popularly imitated Enriquez phrase.
7 ‘po’ is a respectful term in Filipino. ’ser’ is a Filipino transliteration for “sir”. ‘poser’ is a person who pretends someone whose not.

    ps footnote:

8 KJ is an acronym for “kill joy”, someone who who takes the fun out of things for other people
