This is for my final in literature class and I thought this would be a good idea to publish this.
In the poems written by Wallace Stevens, he used nature and human kind as comparison. The poems he wrote were about nature and humankind and how we interact as a whole. There are things that we do as humans to the natural world around us. Wallace noticed some things about the natural world that we do like putting a jar on a hill or putting a town at a harbor at the sea. Nature has way that tells us if we cause any harm in one form another.
In the poem Anecdote of the Jar by Wallace Stevens, he wrote about a jar on a hill in Tennessee. The jar on top of the hill in Tennessee is kind of a human made thing in the middle of nature and that is conflicting with the jar on top of the hill. While everything around the jar was becoming less wild while the jar took the dominance of the surrounding areas.
The jar is the creation mankind and how we took dominance over the wild things in the natural world. While we take dominance over everything, we should step back and let nature do it natural course. If we make a mistake with nature and nature will let us know. Nature has a way that lets us knowing when we made a mistake, it isn’t always automatic but nature will give us a warning.
In the poem of “The Idea of Order at Key West” by Wallace Stevens, at first I didn’t understand the poem until the end. He first describes the ocean first and he moved on the town in the harbor of Key West. He talked about the ocean as an uncontrollable person and we can’t do anything about it. We need to respect the sea and to keep out of the way when we are on the oceans. When there are warning signs that the ocean is uneasy and we must keep an eye on the signals that she is going to do something that can harm us. He also described the Key West and the community there. With all the lights in the community and the rage of the sea against the town.
Wallace Stevens wanted to write about our interactions with nature and how we take dominance over nature. Nature does mind when we take dominance over it because nature knows better than we do with the environment that we live in. In these poems he talked about some things and in the poem of the jar on the hill in Tennessee. That everything around the jar became manageable in the surrounding areas. I think that Wallace wanted us to respect nature and everything around us because we are here for a short time. But, nature will be here for a longer time than us.
