For my Granddad.
In a world full of want,
He only gave.
Ina world full of hate,
He only loved.
Anyone who met him could not disagree,
to like him or love him was just too easy.
A bad word against him could never be said,
Whatever you needed -you’re need would be fed.
He’d fix it,
He’d get it,
Make everything right,
Even in darkness he always shone bright.
Without his presence where would I have been,
Whatever I needed always so keen,
To help me,
To guide me,
So subtle – unseen.
All of the good things, I think that I am,
All of them came from this wonderful man.
All of my interests and things that I know,
Came from a garden that he made grow.
Still with me forever in the dark lonely night,
Giving me strength and building my might.
Unaware of the magic he gave and he had,
To so many people he was simply Granddad.
All of hem touched by the way that he cared,
All of us grateful for the times that we shared.
He taught me my humour,
Pull legs,
Have a joke,
Lets all light four candles for this special bloke.
A person so special,
so giving,
so true,
We are all so blessed to have ever met you,
But I am more lucky and that is a fact
’cause you’re my first mate, my best man,
My Granddad, My Dad.
