A poem that shows the beauty and total essence of spring. Also, possibly some nostalgia of times remembered.
Euphoric Essence of Spring
In garden green, the time late spring,
I stand and sense magnificence
of life and love reborn again.
The apple blossoms’ sheer essence
exudes eternal, white and pure
from God, our Lord’s omnipotence.
The finches perch, but they’re not sure
of site to build secluded nest.
first he must find a mate to lure,
A lady fair with speckled breast
to hover, keep their babes in shells.
A precious matriarch, his quest.
He perches high, his chorus swells
from hanging basket near the door,
his joy, in song, the world he tells.
A hummingbird returns once more
to drink of nectar, pink and sweet,
delightful sprite – revered, adored.
Now lilacs yield a gracious treat
in gentle lavender and white.
Their fragrance sends a song complete.
The mockingbird, a seemly sight,
enjoy in earth’s fair equinox,
his descant pierces, haunts the night.
And creeping near a mound, the phlox
paint colors rare in shades of blue,
a rope of velvet o’er the rocks.
