Second in a series of trivia poems. Where Am I?

Once thought to be an island trace
The insect with the canines face
The giant Sequoia and it’s massive splendor
It’s the golden love that will never surrender
The Poppy, quail and whales are symbols most dear
Grizzlies as well, to which everyone stands clear
