Butterflies, owls, birds, moles, and dogs have evolved in different regions of the world to adopt to their environment.

Animals undergo changes

With each generation

Changes that are so small

That they’re difficult

To see with the naked eye

- – -

Over many millions of years

Scientists have revealed

How these changes have

Completely altered

Many animals

- – -

This evolutionary process

Helps these animals to adopt

To their environment

In which they live

- – -

The results are modifications

Through a series

Of mutations

That affect the characteristics

Of animals

- – -

Butterflies, owls, and birds

Have evolved ways of camouflage

Whether they live in the Artic

Or warm climates

These same species may look

And appear different in various regions

- – -

Some species have vanished

All together

Like the golden toad

Of Central America

That once lived on forest-floor pools

- – -

Like humans

Moles in some parts of the world

Have evolved to be different colors

But are the same basic specie

- – -

Dogs are descendants

Of the gray wolf

And through artificial selection

Their gene pool was

Manipulated for us

To enjoy different breeds

- – -

Some animals

That live today like the tapir

Were once relatives to those

That migrated eons ago

That dwelled in different land masses

Coming from South East Asia

To Central and South America

You write these well. You could take this information and write some really good articles.

Thank you for your critique PR Mace. My background is really in international journalism and broadcasting. I notice when I write what I consider good articles in my field or other stories, they receive less hits than when I do poetry. Since I really will like persons to read my work, I opt for the much shorter genre of poetry, since my other articles that tend to be long, don’t cut it with reviewers.

Boy – less hits than poetry, from my experience that’s hard to imagine. I guess the creationists won’t agree with what you’ve written – but hey that’s what poetry is about – making people think. It’s not about telling people what they want to hear.
