What every writer needs for success.

Those wishing to write creatively

Will need first to find a muse

For without one new ideas only come delusively

And rarely do bemuse

But how, one asks, does one attract a muse

To sit upon your shoulder, guiding and suggesting

Some insights one first might wish peruse

Before more precious time and thought investing

Some themes it seems are destined for success

While others just lie there, dead upon arrival

But even the best ideas still require finesse

An artist’s touch to guarantee survival

So if one has all the necessary ingredients

Success in writing is definitely assured

Particularly with some additional expedients

That many years experience will surely have matured

Now, I personally see myself a most successful writer

No doubt agents will soon be pounding at my door

Prospects for high paying contracts could not be brighter

I’ll soon be very rich, who could ask for more

Oh, perhaps a few adoring fans for adulation

Standing expectantly always round my door

Beautiful women in breathless desperation

Please whisper words of love they do implore

But my wife of forty years said to me this morning

That my success is not quite yet a cash cow

So to both me and my muse she gave a mild warning

Your day job that buys the groceries, do not dream to disavow

Are you really getting big contracts for your writing? I wouldn’t be surprised actually bc youre good.

I was manic once, where I could not even sleep bc new thoughts kept springing up to mind and id turn on the nightlight and write it down. That was HELL. I just wanted to go to sleep.
