An original poem seeking to engage the destructive nature of mass consumption which accompanie captitalism.
How easy it is to impress upon thee
a wanting desire or insignificant need.
Never did it dawn upon you to concieve
the labor of hard work
or favor in good deed.
Whoa to the powerof self-suffiency.
How your eyes of green dance
adorned with lashes of the coy;
finding delight within the
meaningless romance
an abusive fling with material joy.
How big are those eyes?
Broad enough to reach for miles
and intrude upon a world full of minds.
How boldly the emeralds of green
stand up to shine
and watch; how beautifully,
the shadow cast by need and insecurity,
dances on the wall.
While desperate for hope marginals
devote precious energy
to mutter redundant nonsense hypnotically.
Forever in search of nothing;
entertaining yourself with
temporary glitter
used by the shallow to mask despair.
As if the solution to your problems
will be fixed with your nails and your hair.
Obese with luxury
while children starve everywhere.
A fathers sacrifice made a sin
with too many gifts unwarranted.
A daughter devoted to her enabled mind;
never seeking any answers
always running out of time.
A journey without meaning.
But my…
how brilliantly those eyes do shine.
Illusioned as to trick a virgin to temptation
and to leave no whisper of truth behind.
