This poem uses fabric as a metaphor for our daily lives.
FABRIC OF LIFE
Tweeds of vain and gallant shame
weave through pores of scalloped-edged pain
writhing in Twill muscles there
its weakness not to blame
Linen spoils of anger shred
tethered seams of uneven fray
torched to memory seared in pearls
hidden deep in engraved Moiré
Embroidered rim of unraveled trust
whitening into unforgiving Lace
bleeds out in careless bleach of touch
Textile ridges now erase
Poly-Knit confusion bent
suffering against our Taffeta pain
shimmer sadness fades to blinking
renews the Velour of hope again
Chiffon shyness speaks out loud
voices crumble not to Wool
words unspoken in measured hem
drown out the color from the lull
Nylon wonder fools the gender
lost desire peels like rust
Quilted dreams mesh to the wire
Satin remembers virgin lust
Muslin days gone by dispensed
disrobe their Drapes in seductive way
loose yourself in Denim chance
fear not the words of Toile you say
Careless Cotton spells your name
feel Sequined Brocade with every breath
live your life to fullest Thread
give in only to Velvet death.
