Frontin’ on Facebook.
One can only try so hard
To get away from their past
You move away
Change your name
But the pain of being you will never change
Your past is just a phone call or a CLICk away
You givein to this “golden age”
Despite your reservations
You construct a Facebook page
Post photos of what you want people to see
What you want people to believe
Of the life that you lead
And you yourself
You search and you find
Request friends
Just so you can pry
When they’re probably doing the same to you
When you speak they bring up old memories
Make you feel like a fool
You can never get away
From who you once were
You can never seem to change
The person you once were
No matter how hard you try
But instead you cover it up
Make yourself seem so deep
Make your life seem so grand
When the truth is
It’s bleak…
Just think
Just think about it
On a late night
You just creep around it
When no one is on
You’re surfing their pages
Don’t front like you’re not
I’m surfing their pages
That’s how I know
I’ll admit to that
It may seem crazed
But aren’t we all just trying
To keep someone amazed
By all of this lying
By showing how we think we have changed
By showing how well we think we have done
When the truth is
We haven’t done much
It’s all just a front
