Tell me fairytales…
Tell me fairytales.
Because nothing bad can happen in a fairytale,
Or if it does it soon gets sorted out
And everything is all right in the end
And they all live happily ever after.
Everyone but the villain.
She – for you’ll find the villain is usually a woman –
Will always lose.
Cooked in her own oven,
Cuts off her toe to fit a shoe,
Or locked up and executed.
Apart from in ‘The Little Mermaid
– not the ridiculous Disney version; the original –
Where the seawitch wins.
She keeps the mermaid’s voice,
She gets the sister’s hair
And the mermaid dies because she loves her prince too much to kill him.
But she finds peace.
So don’t tell me fairytales;
Tell me fishy tales
And real stories of the strength of love and courage
And remind me that I can pull through.
