Part of the Pithom series…

I edged to sleep not knowing who I’d be the next day
So I stayed long in the hours before lying down
And forgetting who I am

I’m not the same person you may have in mind
Whoever I were to you before I slept the night
Left in the spirited breath of dreams

And you may be forgiven for your kindness
In treating the stranger as your friend
Even though I perhaps find you repulsive today

I’ve left a number of shells in my awkward wake
The shrapnel of numerous personalities
That may wound the careless step

But do not fear to tread my angels
Venture on and brave the cold mid winter song
Because you may find comfort in the new sun

Turn your gaze away from these folds of flesh
And look to the forest beyond me
For only there will you discover my name

I was led to the darkened place within my mind
And I beheld the starless sky
Before succumbing to death’s taking

My life is now an echo from a space in time afar
Should you but heed their report please regard
I am a new sun arisen and returned

More coherent to me than previous and paints an interesting picture, I guess, of changing or recurring existance. Provocative but, for me, hardly light entertainment. Americans don’t want to think while being entertained.

    Thanks everyone.

@maybii… The Pithom series is a collection of poems. They are based on the Pithom metaphor that I’m developing which concerns the escape from the prison of the mind, and self enlightenment. I have an epic of sorts in the making which will be the meat of the metaphor, but these ‘lesser’ poems will form an appendix to that story. It’s all up in the air at the moment, and probably sounds greater than what it actually is. I have no idea when I’ll finish it, but I hope to continue the series for quite a while.
