A house can be in any shape, form or even disarray. It never takes away from what the home is.
The years have slowed us down quite a bit
Yard needs tending and the house needs repairs
It’s tough to find time to do all these things
To even find time that we two can share
Bedroom doors are broken, falling from frame
The paint, it is chipping in the living room walls
The floors, they are squeaking so very loud
From the kitchen to the bedrooms down the hall
The gutter out back is sagging, destroyed
As trees offer more leaves this upcoming fall
Basement needs cleaning from the flood we just had
And spackle is needed for the holes in the wall
However we must say or rather see what is true
Be it here or wherever in life we may roam
That, though the house may be falling apart
Together, my love, we have made a fine home
