Saying good-bye to a childhood friend.

Hindsight is 20/20
In this cruel reality
Callously unforgiving
Time marches on relentlessly
Ceaselessly meandering
Merciless till the end
I was just a little girl
When I first met you
A boy with emerald green eyes
With freckles on his nose
Dazzling me from afar
You were full of mischief and life
Not a care in the world
I was instantly smitten
We grew up together
Knowing only each other
You opened up my heart
You taught me how to love
Even when I was broken
And completely torn asunder
You were my only friend
Who brightened my lonely life
Shattering my isolation
Even after all these years
Your presence gone long ago
Your gentle spirit remains
I can still see you…
Damn it!…tears fall before me
My words becoming one
The power you still have
Shaking me to my very core
If only I had known…
Hindsight is 20/20
Regret my only friend
If only I had known
I would have held on to you
Never letting you go
I wished I was a better friend
I never expected you…
I always thought you would be here
I can’t seem to go on
I can’t seem to let you go
Will I ever see you again?
Will I ever hear your voice?
I need to let you go
Your apparition set free
I will never forget you
Forever locked in my head
Good-bye my friend
Good-bye my love
Its time I move on
