A story poem about a daddy and his kids.
This adventure begins just like many,
that have come before.
A bunch of kids, and their childlike Dad
Who have finished all their chores.
“Come with me.” Daddy said.
“We’ll go have some fun.”
The children followed smiling wide
In the Alabama sun.
He got the wagon they pulled around
It was red with wooden sides.
Small enough for a kid to pull,
But big enough for rides.
Their Dad was cleaver he would not pull
He would let the tractor tow,
He hooked up the wagon,
The kids piled in and away they go.
Oh how they cheered!
Oh how they laughed!
“Yea! Daddy please go faster!”
It was those words that brought along,
The following disaster.
He dropped the tractor in high gear
And away they flew,
Some flew left, and some flew right.
And someone lost a shoe.
“Oh! My God, you’ve killed them all.”
Mom said to Daddy dear.
She ran to them and picked them up,
Her face was full of fear.
“Why on earth would you pull, a wagon with a tractor?”
Daddy stood his ground then said,
“It worked, till they said go faster.”
