Theory and practise of fasting.
Fasting for weight gain
Almost everyone understands that fasting can lead to weight loss. Most readers are very difficult to imagine how starvation can contribute to weight gain. However, experience shows that often after a fasting person gets well.
Weight loss against overeating – a familiar sight. Every day we find malnourished people making heroic efforts to recover, and complaining that the more they eat, the more lose weight. They try it one diet for weight gain, then another, but their thinness is sometimes increased. Overfed human organism is often repeated to such an extent that, as a consequence, there comes a rapid depletion.
Food and nutrition – are not synonymous! Meals are not proportional to the amount imposed by the food and how much food is digested and absorbed. When disturbed digestion, overeating in order to raise the weight does not reach the goal. Depletion is most often caused by damage to health, much less frequently – lack of food. Depletion is usually proportional to the degree of ill health. Such patients need not to increase the amount of food, and in establishing a system of detoxification, making it possible to digest and assimilate food. By doing this, we can easily lift the weight.
Because fasting leads to a renewal process of assimilation, it usually makes it possible for patients with chronic low-weight increase it, whereas other methods are unsuccessful. This fact is confirmed by observation and experiments on animals.
Experiments on starvation showed that, after it required less food to maintain physical strength, physical activity, normalization of nitrogen balance and weight, since starvation leads to a raising of the efficiency of physiological processes. Here are the reasons that the emaciated man, remained thin at different, “lift weights” diets usually make sure that after starvation the weight is increased by a much smaller, compared with the habitual food intake.
Farmers on the basis of long-term observations have come to a conclusion: if the pig growing slower than the other one litter of piglets due to the fact that he is getting enough milk to separate and feed the same way as before (with lack of), then it grows faster than others, and even surpass them in size. Osborne, Mendel and Thomson – three classic authority in the field of dietetics and biochemistry, have confirmed these observations in a series of famous experiments. They found that weight gain, which appears after the separation when malnutrition occurs with great pace than usual, sometimes reaching a magnitude that they would be considered for the excess compensation.
As it turned out, a similar phenomenon occurs after fasting malnourished people. Period of physiological rest during fasting has the effect of improving digestion, assimilation, and also more economical use of food. It was shown that starvation leads to rapid nitrogen starvation and at the same time greatly increases the ability to absorb nitrogen. The result is the best type of tissue than fat tissue, formed as a result of overeating of starches, sugars and fats.
Simply put, this means that the body requires and utilizes proteins more easily and thus produces a totally different type of tissue than is formed from sugars, starches and fats. While this latter type of food often leads to weight gain, there is nothing absurd accumulation of pounds of useless fat. On the contrary, fabric, built of proteins – the good, healthy and helpful, plus they improve the appearance of the body. Weight should be raised properly and expediently.
There is a vast body of evidence that the metabolism is enhanced by starvation. This fact can only mean a more complete assimilation of nitrogenous materials. Metabolism or metabolism – a term applied to all processes that result in food is converted into the tissue and through which the substances are split. It is the creative stage of metabolism, called anabolism, especially accelerated starvation. The undeniable fact is that after fasting tissue more susceptible to the elements of the food easier to absorb vitamins, minerals and proteins, even in those cases where it was not possible previously.
In a well-fed, even more so overfed, America, we rarely encounter cases of malnutrition on the basis of malnutrition. Most often underweight due to disorder of digestion and assimilation of food consumed. In such cases, people need not to increase the amount of food, but to improve the ability of digestion and assimilation. This can be achieved only by the removal of organic and functional disorders of the digestive patient.
But this is rarely done while the patient adheres to a traditional diet consisting, in its view of “good, nutritious food.” A curious fact: many of these patients get better if they eat much less than usual. Especially helping them to properly select the duration of starvation.
Malnourished people usually have a poor appetite. It is generally believed that their food is not enough, because they eat too little, while the opposite is true – reducing food intake is the result of poor digestion. When food is not used, the body reduces the need – hunger decreases. In this case, nature is smarter than us. Not more food, and better use it – that’s what’s needed.
Fasting sharpens the appetite. After fasting patients not only receive more pleasure from food and more hungry, but they also improves digestion and increases the ability of digestion. This results in weight gain, in many cases even very fast. I watched the dramatic incidents of this type and have seen people, long suffering from exhaustion and so recovering what they had to change plans and start losing weight.
The exception in these cases are almost always tall, thin people who suffer from the so-called nervous exhaustion and depression. Fasting is useful to such people, but it rarely leads to a rapid increase of weight. The deep depression of the nervous system and cause her depression functions of the patient requires a long period of careful control over not only food, but above all a way of life for the restoration of functioning to such an extent that the person could have a normal weight.
How long should starve people who are underweight, with a guarantee to improve the processes of nutrition? Strictly definite answer to that is not. Period of fasting is unique, as each patient is different. In some cases it is enough of from ten days to two weeks, sometimes it takes much longer time. Short fasting is rarely sufficient to eliminate defects in processes of nutrition and lifting weights in chronically malnourished patients. Here, as elsewhere, fasting should be under competent supervision.
As in the U.S. in most cases, exhaustion, we are not dealing with malnutrition and the inability to digest and absorb food, it is important that all cases of malnutrition have been identified and corrected. We should not expect that starvation significantly improve the ability of digestion and assimilation of food, if the patient continues to lead a life fixating existing violations. Vital for the recovery of nervous energy is also a holiday.
Too much food, which is supposedly the basis of the diet for lifting weights, it is unwise, if you practice fasting. On the contrary, the requirement of good nutrition is reduced to a diet consisting of at least 60% of fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. Canned fruits and vegetables are not food that should be consumed after fasting. Proteins and carbohydrates should constitute the remaining 40% of the food, and it is desirable that the predominant products with the best set of proteins.
In order to achieve a high level of health and maintain it, it is necessary, except for an improved diet, take into account other factors of a healing in daily life. The annual exercise, fresh air, sunbathing, where possible, prolonged air and sleep, emotional balance and a lack of mindless habits – it all helps to establish the weight and body tissues have the desired structure.
We note that similar advice we give people who are overweight who are starving and want to “create” a healthy body. The fact that normal life is to create normal conditions. Good health is excellent, and life habits normalize weight in one direction or another. The true needs of patients of both types are the same.
