A poem about an acid trip at Disneyland.

Early in the morning
As I prepare for a trip of a lifetime,
And after a fast cup of coffee and a shot of Jack Daniels,
Me and friends headed into the Nazi kingdom,
The Fourth Reich,
Disneyland itself.
I am now at a place where nothing is real,
And after my parents depart,
My trip begins.
We all went into space…twice,
And it wasn’t until I was cruising the Caribbean that I could feel it kicking in
And I knew I was in trouble,
Because I could not stop smiling to save my life,
I mean here is this drugged out kid
Ripped jeans and a Nirvana t-shirt
And I can’t even stop smiling.
Four hours passed in a whirlwind of flashing lights and blinding colors,
In this time I entered a haunted house,
Rode through mines on a train,
Entered a temple of doom
And soared down a mountain full of singing birds.
It wasn’t until Fantasy land where my head took off at 365 miles an hour
With no intention of slowing down.
Now while this might all sound like fun,
Let me tell you,
Toon-town is not the place to be with a head full of acid,
Especially with a sky so blue,
So blue it makes you want to cry.
And just then, as I was walking around,
The ground started sticking to my shoes,
And the Hitler wannabes who were running the place
Were letting these frog people in through the gates,
They were screeching at me,
I can’t even describe the noise it was so awful,
But they were fucking screeching at me and I was scared.
So me and friends settled down at a place near a mountain,
The whole trip might have been a mistake.
I was going too fast
I was going to crash,
Everything was going crazy,
My hands, they wouldn’t stay still,
Everything was moving in on me,
I couldn’t hold still,
Not even for a second
So I leaped up fast
Wanting to curl up into a little ball
To escape all the noises and beasts among me.
I mean,
What would you do if you were trapped in a drug trip frenzy and everything
Was moving in on you.
I mean, one second I’m flying high with Lucy in the sky
And next I’m zapped into an octopus’s garden in my yellow submarine.
I was dazed and confused
I was lost
I was reckless
I was dumb
I was stealing society
And I had become comfortably numb.
I was so sedated
I had to go to the bathroom,
I wound up on Space Mountain instead.
Out of nowhere.
BOOM!
BOOM!
Explosions and colors in the air.
BOOM!
It was a war zone up there,
World War III.
BOOM!
BOOM!
I had to take cover,
And then time stopped
And I find myself back in my car,
Pulling away from a twisted nightmare
Pulling away from hell,
When I finally realize that it was all worth it.
And I can still hear Jim Morrison’s haunting lyrics:
“This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend
The End”
