A fear I am sure is shared by many.

I’m sitting anxiously here in the plane
That’s set for Italy once again.
It’s not a place I like to be
With people packed in tight round me.
I can feel the fear rising inside,
A fear I’m finding difficult to hide.
The air feels muggy and really thin
And I can’t seem to breathe any of it in.
I must calmly think of the country I love,
The warm sunshine and the blue sky above.
Lazy days spent on a gold sandy beach
And that all these things are almost in reach.
The wonderful food and endless wine
In the sea front restaurants where we dine.
Seeing my dear old Mum after a year away
Her joy so apparent at having me to stay.
Surely this is all worth a trip on a plane
Even if I find it a bit of a strain.
