Short poem about waterfalls and the sensation of being so high in the sky. Vertigo.
Like sitting at the end of a waterfall
watching currents rush by
and fall and fall
so far that the water
will never reach the ground
so far that the wind just carries it away
molecule by tiny molecule
vapor in the air
It’s that one special moment
terror and calm wonder simultaneous
gut wraps around my spine and floats
lukewarm shivery sensations
that I can’t ignore
poised to slip through reality
feels like I can
Fall forever
At the tallest waterfalls
the rainbows arc beneath you
red, yellow, green
sunlight glancing off droplets
that fall through the atmosphere
9.8 meters per second
can’t even see the ground
past the clouds
If you aren’t living on the edge
You take up too much space
faces peak over sides
end of the sidewalk
tenuous ties to the firmament
tiny spider silk threads
snap snap snap freedom
feels like vertigo
