This is the result of a theater class assignment to write a monologue about my character. Here it is…

Feet to the pavement.
Take off running.
Free.
Free.
Free from responsibility,
free from burden,
free from life,
free from thought.
Run.
Run away.
Somewhere safe.
Is there such a place?
There must be.
Somewhere where the air is thin,
where the sun doesn’t scold,
where the pavement doesn’t peel layers off my skin,
where sky is blue-
not just any kind of blue, a clear, worry-free blue,
A blue that soothes.
No troubles, no pain.
Just happiness and success.
Run.
Keep running.
I’ll find it one day
I have to
I need to
get out of this place.
So I hit the pavement running,
until my feet get too sore
so I can’t run anymore.
Destiny unknown,
it doesn’t matter though.
Hit the pavement.
Run.
