Feminine Vengeance

 a swift swipe imparted by the mother cat
 turned off the bitch with a bruised muzzle;
 there was a brief ceasefire between the two of them
 as they saw me coming;
the  mother cat crawled into her nesting enclave
 which she had chosen inside the scrap dump
 to bear and shelter her kittens for safety;
 the bitch simply followed me away but-
 the next day i heard the roar of bitch
intermixed with the screams of the mother cat;
 I rushed to the scene to investigate
 though the ugly furious sounds i heard
augured nothing but trouble;
 Ah, what a horrible scene was before my eyes!
 A  battle I saw  between life and death,
 A scene of animal vengeance and vendetta,
 A struggle for survival by the smaller mother,
 An effort    to exterminate by the  bigger female;
A nasty show of hate and grudge and power
 a mad attempt to kill, a sane attempt to defend,
 Offensive and defensive at its peak!
Too late it turned out for me to halt
the fierce battle between the incompatible foes,
 the mother cat stood the ground like a brave lion
 her kittens hiding behind her in their slum catty,
 swiping the bitch as hard as she could
 and the bitch gone wild with rage and fury
 determined not to back off as in a death fight
 suddenly grabbed the mother cat between her teeth
  furiously  swung it left and right, up and down,
  and lo! the soul of the mother cat departed
  faster than it may have entered her body at birth!
The poor mother cat was gone, gone for ever!
 Finished, the bitch who had been too swift to attack
 and kill the mother cat retreated back
 quite out of  breath towards me
 wagging her tail and making me wonder
Males and females are equally gentle
in matters of love  but

when it comes to  hate and vengeance,
females are fathoms high .
