Those dreaded men in uniform who comes to your home to hand you those letters.

I’m finally comin’ home mum

and I long for your embrace

the days of loneliness is over mum

put a bright smile on your face

This war is getting worse mum

many of them died without glory

Just wait a little longer mum

and I’ll tell you all of their story.

———————

I’m sorry to inform you ma’am

your son has died today

another senseless babble ma’am

in the war games that we play

If its of any use ma’am

as he fearlessly embraced death

he slowly uttered your name ma’am

upon his final breath

One last mention ma’am

Thank you for all you gave

there are no words of comfort

as a loved one goes to grave.

With help from Brad O’Neil.

Very well written Miraj. Your writings are indicative of the fact that you are transcending human divisions and seeing commonality deep down emotionally!!

Unfortunately these words are said to parents so often these days.
