The last thoughts of a dying man.
His final thoughts were of despair
His house in flames, his life affair
he sought the bottle of escape
Before his eyes came an angel, wings black and shattered
the bottle slipped, broken glass at his feet
The multiple reflections of his sorrow he could see
He slipped into a deep despairing sea
Red-rimmed eyes cast skyward, questioning God
The angel gave to him a plot of sod
From which grew a speckled mouse
