Flashing blue lights

I see them from behind

Was I going to fast this time?

Or did I pass the stop sign I guess I will be fined

The cost of driving is too high as it is

As a million question race thru my mind

As I watch the flashing blue lights approach fast from behind

I hope this officer will show me some mercy

Because these days I am a little short on cash

I do not know what I was thinking driving so fast

I slow to pull over to the side of the road

But to my surprise the flashing blue lights did not slow

They pass by me without hesitation

I am lucky this time but it will not last how quickly we forget the past

So look around you and be observant when you drive

Because you do not want a ticket that will lead to a fine

Obey the rule and you will be okay

While you live to drive another day
