5 1st graders
throwing up
6 2nd with
head lice
the nurse out with
pneumonia
and the secretary refusing
to give ibuprofen
to the string of
tummy aches
even with mothers
on the line

me, i’m doing fine
now because it’s
after lunch

i have
a student teacher
and muscle aches
probably because i
skipped the walk

 
the student teacher teaches
something slowly
i think
but doesn’t like me
in the room
to catch her

mistakes will be made

and skipping will
happen

and drank a Coke
instead of the walk not taken

and there’s something
heavy in my head
besides my teeth

certainly not any
thoughts

but i’m fine

though the throw-ups
worry me some
