A poem about learning to let go of someone you love.
So let’s pretend
As we always do
That I don’t exist
And neither do you
We’ll stay in between
Hidden
Unseen
So is our life
You’re satisfied
Right?
No
No more of this
End must be in view
Though heart broken in two
And selfishly wanting to stay
To save us all more pain
The resolution has never been more true.
I won’t cry when I don’t see your face
Or when I look in your eyes and they’ve been replaced
No longer to crave your kisses
Hating myself for moments missed
Won’t profess my love to someone long dead
Will try my best to force myself out of her head.
We’ll let go for the very last time
Won’t waste another second on one who isn’t mine
I promise you now as I should’ve promised you then
It’s gone on too long
We’ve reached the end.
