A poem about the quick, brutal ending to a long, brutal life.

an antagonistic life burns angrily,
until the battle-axe sullies completely,
lifeless the body falls finally,
a blackened spirit capitulates dryly,

as a dark life ends awfully,
an undisciplined summer defies it all,
dingy roads carry on perfunctorily,
while vibrant streets shout triumphantly,

gray skies gather above,
light concedes reluctantly to it,
broken bones crack dazzlingly,
the perforated veins flow hysterically,

drunken chivalry languishes,
amongst the capricious irritability,
alongside boastful agitation and anger,
a sharp blade defies drunken immortality

    Thanks F J,

That’s the basic theme; a bully meeting his eventual match. So it fits very well into that scenario.

Interesting imagery. Makes me think it was written about corporate life in an office.

I never realized violence can be so poetic.

I love the Title: How true in life this is.

Powerful poem and use of words. A sharp blade defies drunken immortality. Love this line. Well done friend.

The dark side brought to light in a very imganitive way. Nicely done.

Definitely a thinker, that’s for sure. I can think of a few people I would like to see here…

I wish the dark side had seen some light in his lifetime. What a Tragedy!

I believe this poem is actually about Emperor Palpatine. He died with rage; I mean, Darth Vader, his closest friend and ally, DID throw him into a pit and essentially betray him.

    Interesting poem though.

Dark and brutal, but beautifully portrayed.

I agree with Karen, your poem is disturbingly beautiful.

Thanks everyone. I do try to maintain some level of ambiguity within my poetry, so that readers can have their own personal take on it. So if you feel that it represents an office, a medieval, or a even galaxy far, far away, then there is no reason it can’t.

Once again, thanks. I appreciate the kind words.
