This is a poem for all of the mom’s who are blessed enough to stay home with their children during the summer. It’s to encourage those who feel overwhelmed at times, to hang in there and thank God for the memories.

Been quite a yet
Oh yes, it’s true
Those kids of mine
THEY won’t be blue!
No hustle and bustle,
Goodbye morning rush
No “Hurry up kids
Or you’ll miss the bus!
No “Please wear your coat,
or You forgot your lunch!”
No “Have a great day and
I love you a bunch.”
Still love them immensely,
It’s plain to see
But school’s out for summer
And we’re dancing with glee!
At last relaxation
Will again be restored (ha ha)
What am I thinking?
The kids will be bored.
I’ll wake up one morning
With sleep in my eyes
To all the excitement,
They’ve made a suprise.
With smiles on their faces
And eggs in their hair,
They’re pouring and mixing
With no time to spare.
“We made you some breakfast”,
They’ll probably shout.
Their attention span gone now,
They’ll scatter about.
I’ll clean up the mess
And prepare for the day.
Don’t hit your sister,
Be nice and go play.
Is everyone dressed?
Brush your teeth, comb your hair.
Stop poking eachother
Don’t give me that glare!
We’ve got to get goint
We’re going to be late.
Grab the cell, check the mail,
Lock the door, close the gate.
It’s off to the doctor,
They party and store.
We’re going straight home
Cuz there’s laundry galore.
Buckel your seatbelt
We’re almost there.
If they ask one more time,
Then they’d better BEWARE!
We’ll be home soon
I’ve work to do
I’ll first start the laundry
And then start the stew.
I’ll peek out the window
As the phone starts to ring
My attention’s diverted
By the microwave ding.
They’ll turn on the hose
And flood the backyard,
While one plays the swimmer,
The other lifeguard.
“It’s time to come in now”,
I’ll chant through the door,
As they barrell right through,
Don’t get mud on the ………………….FLOOR!
Can I have some candy?
Now get down from there!
Pleeease help mom clean up,
There are toys everywhere.
“YEAH Daddy’s home,
We missed him alot”,
Is what they’ll exclaim
When he pulls in his spot.
They’ll dog pile him right
When he walks in the door.
He’ll slink to the couch
And complain his back’s sore.
With a peck on the cheek
After dinner he’ll say,
“That was good dear,
What did YOU do today?”
“Oh just the usual”,
I’ll say with a smile.
When the kids are in bed
We can talk for a while.
From Superman capes
To bath time bubbles,
One more story please
And two more cuddles.
I’ll quietly stand
As they each give a yawn,
To draw their blinds,
So they’re not up a dawn.
Feeling guilty for wishing
That summer was done,
Reminissing the day
With my daughters and son.
I’ll tippie toe out
And not make s sound
It’s adult time now,
But guess what I’ve found.
My husband’s crashed out
On the living room floor,
Remote clutched in hand
With a rattling snore.
As I nudge him to bed
And anticipate sleep,
I’ll thank you Dear Lord
That my family you deep.
