This poem is in remembrance of the life of our grandmother, the way she lived, and how we thought about her at her passing.
You were tall and lanky
As a grandmother you were so good to us
You bought us gifts
And always giving
You gave us countless toys
You shared your love
Showed us warmth
And you never spared yourself
To be part of our lives
You understood our needs
You sensed our moods
You made us know
The person you were
You were all wrinkles
Your face was filled
With hills and valleys
But you had that smile about you

That we liked to see
You were bold
You spoke forcibly
You always were confident
That made us admire you
When your sight was going
You had to be led around
We remembered those times
As you laid ill in bed
We always loved you grandma
You made us see
What it was like
To grow old in dignity
You must have been
In your early nineties
When you passed
But your flame would burn within us
For we knew your spirit lives
And our love for you
Would live on and on
