About vampires, the need to hunt and the feeling of being trapped as a creature of night without control.

I can feel the light upon me like an guidance
A gentle reminder that I am different
I can feel the death rolling from my skin in gentle waves
Like steam from a fire
In the shadows among the hidden
I lie unable to rest
From all around there is the scent of life
The cutting burn from within my throat
The stinging pull to drink
I cannot.
I will not.
As the sun lowers and the clouds roll in
It takes over. Again and again.
Night after night.
I go through the same fight….One that I will not win.
Over and over again.
The sound of their beating heart.
The smell of their pounding veins.
The tempting tickle at my fangs.
It’s a call I cannot resist.
As the moon rises higher and higher over my head
I give in to this chilling….Dead body that holds me captive
For an eternity
I’m trapped.
To hunt and feed….My eyes full of greed.
Always searching for the blood
That will keep me here
The fangs that are my chains to the Earth
And no matter how I try I’ll never understand why.
