A poem about life’s choices.

You get up in the morning,

And you do not know who you are,

Or what you are about.

You pull your clothes on,

And you go out ot the garage to your car.

You get in the car, and hold the key in front of you,

Slowly putting it into the ignition,

Turning it to the on position.

You back your car out of the drive,

And head out to the highway.

You find yourself at the crossroads,

And you look to the left.

You see the clearest of paths,

Free of any obstruction.

It beckons you that way, and you are urged,

Urged to almost beyond the power of your will to control moving.

You then turn to the right,

Where you see a path full of challenge,

Full of trials.

You then look forward, and look on with despair and an air of wariness,

For where there was a road going straight just yesterday,

Now there is a brick wall,

Built to rach up to the heavens,

And as you follow it up to as far as you can see,

You feel a twinge in your stone cold heart, and you look left,

And automatically know down that lies easy going,

Yet its long-term consequences are dire, and full of despair.

You look right, and your feelings of trepidation melt away.

In their place, you feel hiope,

And you feel all of God’s glory,

And you look right,

And you find yourself heading the direction you are looking.

You grow thirsty,

Yet you do not stop for sustenence.

You grow fatiqued,

Yet cannot find in yourself to stop and rest.

Finally, when it fels as if you cannot take another step,

You find yourself viewing a light so bright just three hundred feet down the road.

Immediately revived,

You catch  a second wind, And walk on with renewed determination.

Yuo see the light looming ever closer,

And the light is becoming so unbearable,

You try to avert your eyes,

Yet find that you can’t.

You hear a voice talking in such a commanding way,

You feel compelled to listen.

You suddenly wake up, drenched in sweatm

And realize that dawn is just beginning to bud in the east…

…And you smile as the dream comes back,

And you feel better about the choices you have made in life.
