Broken pieces of looking glass.

Broken pieces of looking glass tell no lies
riveting your thoughts to the place you count lost
shards retell the story over and over in your mind
cutting and inflicting the pain you once removed
torn up pictures count the tears you shed
as your bottle of hope is poured down the drain
digging out the pieces of glass from your womb
and gluing them onto the plastic mask you now wear
blood and bone remain and mar their reflection
as you count them precious baubles one by one.
slighted eyes of redemption can no longer see
plagued by grains of disillusion and shattered dreams
yet you refuse to let go…and continue to bleed.
lying in a sea of glass and fractured wounded-ness
willing yourself to stay afloat in your ocean of regret
filled with purple hearts, baby boys and unworthy men.
watching an  injured giant slowly drown to the glassy bottom
taking all you ever wanted with him…
waiting for an apology.
Mirror Mirror on the wall who’s the fairest of them all? You are my child, if only you believed…
