A real live duck, with the name Fraser. He lives on a small lake not far from my home. This is Fraser’s story, written in limerick form; an allegory. For those who suffer hurts and just want to hide away, may we all find our rainbow so that we can fly high and, like Fraser, bring joy to others.
There’s a duck named Fraser who’s plain white,
Shot at by a hunter, Fraser got quite a fright!

He said with a “quack”-
“This is the fact,
I’m going to stay right out of sight!”
He hid in the reeds by the side of the lake,
Never a chance or a risk would he take.

He ate tadpoles and grass,
Some days he did fast,
His dread fear of the hunter this duck could not shake.
One day with his eye the plain duck did spy,
Bright colors stretched out across the sky.
Reflected he saw,
A rainbow, with awe,
And he called loudly for the courage to fly…
Fraser opened and flapped his plain white wings,
The lake’s waters rippled with bright colored rings.
He rose in the sky,
Through the rainbow did fly,
He’s no longer white, but colors glow from his wings.
Lots of people now come to view this “new” duck,
To see him they say is considered “good luck”,
He’s “protected” you see,
You’ll find him easily,
The rainbow duck, you’ll see, always looks UP!
Fraser smiles and flaps his colorful wings,
With joy he jumps and dances and sings!
His fear’s disappeared,
So he’s never now scared,
Much laughter and joy to others he brings!
